Diagnostic Analysis: A Critical Analysis of the Diagnostic Essay
Directions:  Write a short exploratory, introspective essay that *analyzes your original diagnostic essay and discusses the changes that you would make in order for the writing to be more successful and effective.

Choose three topics from the following list of topics discussed thus far in class:

1). Audience/Purpose
2). Thesis Statements
3). PIE Structure
4). Coherence (KNO, Word Chains)
5). Academic Tone

*NOTE: You should write this essay with ALL of the above topics in mind! Use knowledge of audience/purpose, thesis statements, PIE structure, coherence, and academic tone in your writing--in other words, practice what you preach!

Once you've chosen your three topics, provide a critical analysis of your original diagnostic essay that describes what you did well, the errors you made, the reason(s) why you made these errors, how you worked through these problems, and the changes you would incorporate in the essay in order to improve it.

For your discussion, draw upon the lectures, readings, activities, and homework from this course. Be sure to make specific references for evidence and explanations of your points. However, do not just copy these materials (including homework assignments). Develop these ideas in your own words.

Your diagnostic analysis essay should be 2 – 3 pages long and use a 5-paragraph format (each paragraph in the body covering one topic discussed), Times New Roman 12 point font, and double spaced. Formatting is important and is part of your grade!

*NOTE: This paper is an analysis, NOT a revision of your diagnostic essay. DO NOT just submit a rewrite of your diagnostic essay.
